LinkedIn introduces a so-called LinkedIn Salary, which penetrates into its own internal data to provide you – a LinkedIn member, with the details about your earning potential at the same position. It is a tool, which provides detailed information about the factors that affect your pay. LinkedIn Salary evaluates factors, such as geographical location, the level of experience, and many more.

This tool has only one catch. If you want to know how much money you could potentially earn, you must state your current salary. LinkedIn also promises to keep your information encrypted, and completely separated from your identity.

Employers and recruiters won’t be able to see your current pay level or have any access to this information. In fact, absolutely no one will be able to see this information. LinkedIn first encrypts the information about your salary using RSA-2048 technology, which helps to ensure safe storage and high protection of the data.

LinkedIn Premium users, however, will have an advantage over regular users, since they will get access to this tool without having to provide the information about their own salary. The purpose of LinkedIn Salary is to provide a comprehensive picture of the chosen job title, and its perspective in terms of the salary opportunities in your chosen location. At the same time, LinkedIn Salary will point out the best regions in terms of the pay level, and it will also show the number of job opportunities of the chosen companies. Great impact on these figures may cause the chosen location, obviously. In Prague, for instance, the median salary might be completely different from the one in California, US.

LinkedIn Salary also demonstrates the impact of your education level and experience on the earning potential. LinkedIn Salary is expected to influence people’s eventual decisions about what to study, and in which industry to work. The aim of LinkedIn Salary is, therefore, providing as much information about the median salary as possible, so that you can analyze whether you have selected the right direction for your professional development.
